Posting here for traffic. This photo was taken in approx 1971. Very likely to have been Cornwall/Devon/Wales. Does anyone recognise the buildings? The sign says Meadham Hair Fashions. I wondered if the vertical sign to its left said St Ives? Very grateful if anyone has any clue. Thank you

I’m not sure but I think it was taken underneath a Cloak of Invisibility

Highlyflavouredgravy · 10/04/2023 17:54

You need to attach the photo

Gosh, could be any of a dozen small Devon towns, my first thought was Brixham.

Paq · 10/04/2023 17:59

I think there's a building with pillars like that in Exeter.

Peekingovertheparapet · 10/04/2023 18:00

I don’t think it is St Ives. At first I thought it might have been, specifically Street-an-Pol outside the Guildhall but the buildings in the background aren’t a match.

RobinHumphries · 10/04/2023 18:00

My first thought was Totnes

AnchorWHAT · 10/04/2023 18:00

Exeter i think but possibly Totnes

boymum9 · 10/04/2023 18:05

My first thought was also Totnes

BestIsWest · 10/04/2023 18:06

Totnes High Street, I agree.

RobinHumphries · 10/04/2023 18:06

Definitely Totnes, Birdwood House to the left

Riverlee · 10/04/2023 18:06

Please can anyone identify where this photo was taken?
Nonamenoplacetogo · 10/04/2023 18:07

Totnes!

50but17inside · 10/04/2023 18:08

Totnes! You’re all brilliant. That makes perfect sense. Thank you so much

Another one for Totnes! I think there was some kind of Elizabethan fair there?

ImDuranDuran · 10/04/2023 18:31

Out of interest, how is Totnes pronounced? I'm in NI, never heard of it until this thread Blush

Is it Tot-ness?

RobinHumphries · 10/04/2023 18:32

Yup Tot - ness

MavisMcMinty · 10/04/2023 18:40

Proper Devonians say “Totnuss”, neither syllable stressed.

RobinHumphries · 10/04/2023 19:48

NEVER heard of Totnuss

Rufus27 · 10/04/2023 19:50

Totnes, definitely not Exeter

Proper Devonians say “Totnuss”, neither syllable stressed.

Often referred to as TQ 9-ers in other parts of Devon
