… to not pursue claim for damage to my car?

Hoping for some advice please. So someone damaged the front corner of my car bumper and took the colour off a small patch. My car was stationary and damage not hugely out of keeping with age of my vehicle.

Driver was in a company vehicle and caused more damage to that. He gave details and we took photos - he said he’ll contact his insurers on Tuesday as he was clearly at fault. I’m inclined to shrug it off as I think an insurance repair will be costly (paint, labour, courtesy vehicle) for what’s really quite minor.

Posting here in case I’m overlooking something that could be to my disadvantage. Grateful for all opinions and experience. Thanks

AIBU to not go through standard processes for such a minor contact?

If the damage is minor - and wont impact the value if you sell it later, then there’s no harm in not claiming.

You don’t have to make a claim but you do need to inform your insurers.

Thanks for your replies and appreciate the info. Thought about it yesterday and today and I’ll just carry on as though it’d not happened.
