Due to be going away on Sunday for a few days, not feeling great, body aches, sore throat, tired. Should I still go? How can I feel better in time?!

do you have something like Vicks first defence? If not - sleep, lots of hot tea, a hot bath and rest. Stock up on pills to take with you

Slimjimtobe · 07/04/2023 17:22

Poor you !!
I would try and sleep as much as possible (solpdeine is the only thing that gives me a boost & let’s me get on with my day when feeling poorly) but you can only take it for a couple of days due to codeine

C1239 · 07/04/2023 19:20

Would you still go away even if feeling pretty crappy?

You still have 2 sleeps to go so I wouldn't be making any decisions yet. If it was me, I'd dose up on paracetamol and ibuprofen and smash out the packing this evening, get an early night then rest tomorrow followed by another early night. You may be surprised.

C1239 · 08/04/2023 10:17

Slept well but just feel completely wiped out today no energy at all ☹️

could it be covid?

C1239 · 08/04/2023 10:34

Tested yesterday and it was negative , don’t know how to try and shake whatever it is off before tomorrow.

First defence is the best, with night nurse liquid for bed
I was so unwell Wednesday I had to take the day off, by Thursday was back in work and completely fine by yesterday

ALittleBitAlexa · 08/04/2023 10:42

It sounds like a cold, I'm just getting over something similar. Why wouldn't you still go? Unless it's a really active weekend away?

Mrsjayy · 08/04/2023 10:46

I'd just dose myself up and go, Is it a particularly active thing you are ďoing that you can't mange?

C1239 · 08/04/2023 10:51

It’s not a particular active break so I could probably still go, I’m just pretty rubbish when feeling poorly so I’m probably feeling sorry for myself tbh! Just keep feeling really cold, knackered, headache, sniffly but it probably is just a cold isn’t it?

This country or somewhere abroad?
How much would you lose financially not to go?

C1239 · 08/04/2023 11:07

It’s in this country about 3 hours away would loose about £500 on accommodation if I didn’t go.Do you think you would go even if you ended up resting whilst there more than you planned?

I just got back from a break away with DH and DD and I was ill the whole time with what sounds like similar. It was still nice to be away but I felt rotten. It ended up with DH taking DD out and leaving me to sleep! So it depends on circumstances I guess - I hope you can still enjoy it a bit! Just take ALLLLLL the meds with you - and Vicks, Soothers, loads of tissues, lip balm etc. Feel better soon!

Hotcrossed · 08/04/2023 11:21

is it a family break op@C1239

C1239 · 08/04/2023 11:21

Yes it is @Hotcrossed !
