My dog is a dickhead

He's nearly 13 with a myriad of health issues, including osteoarthritis....and yet the dickhead "forgot" his advanced years yesterday and ran around the garden 3 times chasing cats, went up several steps to the garden from the patio....then demanded a walk.

Today he can barely move and needed an extra dose of painkillers.

Is it just my old man who's a dickhead?

My Leonberger has just used his ‘I need a poo’ bark so someone would get up and let him out because he wants to see off a fox that is sitting on the boundary fence flicking v signs at him. He knows he is absolutely not allowed to wake everyone up for fox-bothering activities but also knows we won’t risk waking up to a steaming pile of 💩Hr is a cunning twat of a dog. I also love him so will forgive him later (maybe) 😂

I have an 8y/o giant breed floof dog that is scared of EVERYTHING, but gets brave from inside the house. She is 60kgs and I am 62kgs if that puts it in perspective you. She won’t go outside to wee unless we go out with her to protect her from the scary birdies. She has a nemesis who is a crow. The crow is MUUUUUCH smarter than the floof. Nearly every day the crow decides to pick some sticks off the tree that grows beside our 2nd story verandah and hurl them in until the floof becomes so utterly enraged that she can’t help herself but react. She will roar and hurl herself towards the crow knowing full well it is safely up in a tree and either yell doggy invectives from the “safe” side of the railings, or - smash into the closed glass doors. Have you ever seen a crow laughing? I have.

Good grief! That's not a dog, it's a Shetland Pony!

😃

My lovely old lady had dick head tendencies. She had three legs and one eye when she died at 19. But oh my heart broke, a life time of being dick is a life well lived.

My beautiful old lab from about the age of 10 would pass out if he got over excited.

It was also at about the age of 10 he decided to start chasing pigeons….

You can only imagine how many fainting incidents we had… Total knob head but I loved him so much and miss him every day.

My dog is 9 but a very large breed so he's "old" in terms of his breed;still tries to out do the younger very small dog but ends up running into things and now can't make it through the night without being let in the garden to pee which isn't exactly an endearing quality.

Duckingella · 07/04/2023 07:18

Oh to add he's always trying to hump the little dog too

This morning mine jumped in lake Malaren to try to catch a bird, his lead then got caught on a mooring jetty thing. I had to wake some poor sod up on their house boat at 7am to untangle his lead so he could swim back to me.

My half blind, deaf dog with dementia is food obsessed-mistook her own poop for food and legged it round the garden with dh chasing after her to drop it.she ate it ….

My dickhead lab used to enjoy a nice lump of cat shit as a snack 🤮🤢

🐕🐕🐕🐕Love these!my old girl still does the zoomies ...for about 30 seconds then flops into her bed for a rest.
She's far from daft though, the vet instructed ,after a small operation,no jumping for two weeks so she was carefully lifted onto everything.Of course, six months later, she stands by what she wishes to lay on and stares until she is lifted up.I've a feeling she will carry on like this for good.😂🐾🐾🐕

I have a cat who is a dickhead. It insists on bringing up fur balls on my expensive rug in the living room, it could do it anywhere else but it insists that the rug is the best place, I stood on one this morning 🤮🤮🤮🤮

rainbowlou · 07/04/2023 12:48

my 16 year old thinks he is still a puppy and forgets he is nearly blind so regularly sprints into a room and crashes headfirst into a table, wall, leg, door etc!!
He then looks extremely embarrassed and will take himself off to bed to recover.

Fraaahnces · 08/04/2023 09:42

Thanks for the love… I’ll tell Ivy she’s a celebrity. She’s busy making a mound of dried food that she has removed from her bowl BESIDE the dining table to underneath it. She saves it to eat when we all have dinner - or should I say that she is saving it until after she has finished nudging our elbows with her nose, doing cartoon Bambi eyes at us and then escalating to an operatic tantrum which involves yelling at us all individually (possibly something about Australia supposedly being a democracy) and then huffing off to her bed with a dramatic sigh and then many moans and whines of pitiful starvation. Then she will get under the table, snuffle up her mound of dried food, burp loudly and then get her hard plastic toy UFO and wang it against our legs until we finish our dinner.
She really is a total arsehole.

@Fraaahnces she is a legend 🤣

Look up doggie massage. You can do it yourself. I did it for my old girl when she was arthritic. She loved it, if I was massaging her hips and stopped, she would look over shoulder at me as if to say “don’t stop”.

Its really just massaging/rubbing all the joints quite firmly. Try the massage on yourself at first.

Sounds like your old boy would really appreciate it after his puppy moment.
