To actually be so sick and fed up of my existence?!

I don’t know if this is an AIBU or just a rant really!

I’ve always had health issues - physical and mental - anxiety, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. However, around 2 years ago I started suffering from severe acid reflux, they don’t know what is exactly causing it however they think it might be a rare motility disorder and I’m still undergoing tests and investigations, however there is a chance it might not be that at all and then they will basically call it ‘idiopathic’ and that’ll be the end of that.

Since I had the acid reflux, around the same time I also started suffering from quite severe and regular waves of nausea which have now turned into an all day, every day type of thing, I’m on Ondansetron for it however it doesn’t always take it completely away and I don’t like taking it on a daily basis.

I am completely at my wits end with it, I know that reflux can cause nausea however even when that’s controlled I’m still feeling sick all of the time. It’s gotten to the stage where I barely go out and leave the house because I just feel so crappy all of the time.

Does anyone have any advice from being in a similar situation etc?

What is your diet like?
do you live alone? Children?

SpoonieMum95 · 03/04/2023 15:15

@Ursualesther I’ve had to cut a lot out of my diet - from dairy to tomatoes and onions etc - so I tend to eat the same thing most days. I do have one child yes

Anti sickness meds will work

so if you’re on one that doesn’t work

you need to go on another

Ursualesther · 03/04/2023 15:21

Do you have any support with your child? How old are they?

SpoonieMum95 · 03/04/2023 15:23

@Ursualesther I mainly take Ondansetron because it’s classed as the best however I also do take other ones on top of that if I need to - yes have plenty of support with my child as we live surrounded by family thankfully!

Given that you have rheumatoid arthritis, have they looked at other autoimmune diseases that affect the gut?

Lostmyself3 · 03/04/2023 16:36

Have you had covid? My husband got terrible acid reflux in early 2020 and after a lot of investigation it seems it’s as a result of covid/long covid.
