I read most of the posts on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4776423-school-ski-trip-cancelled-due-to-chaos-in-dover-fuck-the-tories?page=40&reply=125128075
and was intrigued by the number of tory influencers on MN changing the rhetoric about Brexit. Quite a few posters depicting the 13 year Conservative government as an entirely innocent victim in the whole Brexshit debacle.
'Cameron's fault'
'Cameron was a remainer as were the rest of the cabinet. Corbyn and Labour were leave supporters.'
'The Tories were forced into a referendum. They were just doing the 'people's' bidding'.
'The idiots who voted for it are to blame'
I then read this article in the Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/apr/02/at-this-rate-sunak-may-even-repent-of-brexit-before-starmer-does. The suggestion being that somehow with lots of spin Sunak can do a nifty volte face leaving Starmer in the unenvious position of being on the wrong side of history.
We all know that Tory HQ keeps a finger on the pulse of MN. It clearly has a number of bots supporters on here who brook no criticism of the party, no matter how inept the government is and remember how during the pandemic there was a nudge nudge agenda to encourage folk to start questioning lockdown ?
I think there'll be a gradual reframing of the tory role in Brexit and it will start on here. Stevenage woman any one ?
