To think it's only on MN where people should be rehoming their dogs because they leave them a few hours?

I've namechanged but MN can vouch I've been a member for 3 years.

There's been quite a few dog threads recently and I'm genuinely quite shocked at the way most MN view how dogs should live. I think if only people who could be around their dog all day, every day, never leaving it alone longer than 10 minutes, we would end up with a major stray issue because rescues wouldn't be able to cope.

The mindset baffles me. So many dogs in kennels waiting for a home that are left alone longer than that. People even demanding others rehome their much loved dog who is clearly looked after apart from some hours alone!! In my real life I have never come across this tbh, with plenty of people being shocked I even get a dog walker in the middle of the working day (still alone a few hours either side of this walk)

YANBU. Although about 4 hours is the limit I would say.

4hrs max is recommended from a welfare point of view and popping in for 20 minutes doesn’t reset the clock to enable them to be left for another 4hrs.
