To ask how child maintenance works once they’ve calculated it?

My ex does not see our son anymore (his decision) - we had an informal CM arrangement until then but once he walked out of his life I went straight to CMS. They calculated the £30 a week that he has been paying ever since.

that was a year ago, and I was wondering what happens if his income changes as we are no longer in contact? He was only in a temp job at the time, but has absolutely not been out of work since then because the first thing he would have done is call CM and tell them to change the amount because of circumstances. I doubt he is still on the temporary contract so may in fact be earning more. Once they’ve made a calculation, will CMS just leave it at that or do they do an annual check to see if things have changed? Or do I need to apply for a re-calculation?

They'll recalculate as long as they can get figures from HMRC/Inland Revenue and DWP. It'll go up if his earnings go up and down if they go down.
