Was supposed to have a job interview today, but they never called?

I had a phone call from HR for a job I applied to recently, and they said that the hiring manager would like to interview me. Their phone line was really crackly, and it was really difficult to hear. I know they said I'd get an email through, so I presumed that would have details on it. I presumed it would be a telephone or Teams interview given that it was with a hiring manager rather than the department I would be working in, and it's quite typical in my industry to have an initial telephone interview, then an assessment and then get invited to a 'proper' interview.

The thing is I had no email from them, and no missed calls either. It was supposed to be at 4pm and I was working whilst waiting for the call so didn't really realise that they hadn't called until close of business. I've now had an automated email asking me to fill out a post-interview survey?

Do I phone them on Monday morning and apologise for the inconvenience. I'm seconding guessing myself now and wondering if it was supposed to be ain in-person interview - but surely they would give me more details if it was? All I was told was the time it would be at.

I'd phone them on Monday and ask them to confirm the time as no email had come through.

You reminded me of driving an hour for an interview and finding no one on reception and there was no phone number to ring. I was fuming.

Have you checked your spam?

Well it was either supposed to be a call and didn't/couldn't do it or you were supposed to attend and didn't. I'd call on Monday and say you never got a call. That will give you your answer. They will either apologise and rebook or tell you you missed the interview and so that's the end of it.

Sounds like you weren't that keen anyway so chalk this up as experience to learn from.

What happened next? I'd be so annoyed

Do you actually want the job?

You didn't hear the phone call properly, never got the email you were expecting but didn't chase it up and didn't get the phone interview and didn't chase that either. And now you want to apologise? For what exactly? If you were ringing on Monday it would surely be to ask why the interview hadn't materialised, and they would wonder why you'd left it until then.

@Hillrunning I emailed them when I got home but they never replied.

My thoughts exactly. I'm struggling to understand why anyone would let the day of the interview come and go without confirming the details Confused

To be honest, you don't sound particularly enthused about the job. I can't imagine completely forgetting about an interview time, you say you didn't even realise until close of business. That said, I certainly wouldn't be calling up and apologising on Monday. What would you be apologising for exactly?
