To wonder if this is too much responsibility for one staff member?

I'm a senior care assistant/team leader on a part time basis. I now have sole responsibility for the medication etc . Of 32 residents, and our home holds up to 36 so it could go up.
I'm not sure if it's too much really for one senior. In other homes I've seen this is split between two seniors or a senior/nurse/nursing assistant, but we're a residential home.
Some seniors ask care assistants to hand out half their tablets for them but I don't like that, carers have enough to do.
Just wondering if it seems like too much for one person? We're also 4 people usually on shift for 32 residents, 1 senior and 3 carers.

As an aside I'm also expected (and happy to) help the care assistants with their work.

No, I don’t think it’s too much. And you’ve more staff than many places.

No, seems fine. Unless you're reasoning your ability to do your job?

*questioning not reasoning 😬

No I manage it just about I just didn't know how it seemed to an outsider, or if any other seniors on here could answer but good to know :)

I think 4 should be an absolute minimum of staff so to hear that places have fewer staff is shocking

It sounds ok but I don’t know how much time you’ll have spare to help out the others. Is it all dossette boxes?

Mennypordant · 31/03/2023 08:09

Sadly no some are all easy in blister packs and some are all in individual boxes. Some senior carers don't really help care staff at all but it just makes them struggle.
