Ordered an online shop for click and collect today. Just checked order....we have UHT skimmed milk and I've started to order the cartons you need to snip the top off of as they're about 30p cheaper than the screw top cartons (every little helps!!). The order is saying out of stock and they couldn't make a substitution....really? No semi at all?? No screw cartons, no fresh?? Does anyone pick online shopping....can this really be the case or is there some reason why they couldn't sub the screw cartons or fresh? I can't believe at 11am abig Aldi store is out of all kinds of semi skimmed milk!
It's laughable.....I've had mad substitutions before like frozen spinach for frozen hash browns....that's plain silly....but milk is milk!! Baffled!!

Fresh isn’t a sub for long life though. One is ambient and the other is chilled so they won’t sub a long life product for fresh.

I was in Aldi last night and there was hardly any milk. I buy full fat and there was maybe 10 bottles left. I don’t notice the other kinds but the whole cage area where they keep milk was barren. A few weeks ago they had no milk at all and no cream or sour cream. They did have UHT though.

I had the same with a Tesco delivery last week, no substitute for red potatoes, really, no other potatoes at all? 🙄

This

At best they'd sub long life orange juice

It's a given that milk is a basic staple necessity....it's a real inconvenience not to have any in. So in my eyes fresh, cartons, skimmed, semi, whole....all perfectly acceptable subs. No logic not to sub milk for milk when it's deemed acceptable to sub spinach for hash browns!!
I popped to the co-op en route to collect my shopping to get milk. When I unloaded shop at home I had 2 cartons of semi in my bags?? Someone obvs having a bad day....I also received 3 bags of nappies I deffo hadn't ordered...dd is 17!!! My nappy changing days are long gone!! Hoping for a better shopping experience next time!!

After speaking to the online shop people at my local Aldi, it turns out that they pick all the online orders very early in the morning, often before the new stock has been unloaded. It means that often stuff will be listed as OOS yet you can go in and see it sitting on the shelves by the time you collect your order. It's absolutely infuriating but that's just the way they do it. I've found it's a little bit better if you choose an evening slot, presumably because more stock has been unloaded by the time those orders are picked.

Milks a funny thing in the factory they take all the fat out then add it back depending on if it's full semi etc makes no sense but true so can't see why they would no have what you ordered
