Messy Divorce - can he remove land registry charge on house?

'DH' and I are separated, divorce pending. Three kids of various ages. He's taken out bridging loan after bridging loan, doesn't work, is a liar, and actively trying to turn my children against me. I moved out and put a land registry charge on the house to stop him taking out more loans. He's threatening me with an emergency court hearing to have the charge removed and has said I will need to pay his legal fees. Can he do this?

Not at all.
Let him throw his toys out of the pram. Don’t sweat it. Seriously.

I think a charge can only be removed once the debt is paid off and the Land Registry removes it, not the court. Though I can’t be 100%. Can you register home rights with LR? You should ring LR and they’ll guide you. They were very helpful in my own case.

No he can’t. If he could he wouldn’t be kicking off like this.

I'm assuming the charge is to notify would-be lenders that you have an interest in the former matrimonial home, so that they know they need your consent to any charge in their favour. So I can't see that any judge would agree to remove that while you still have an interest.
But yes, contact the Land Registry for advice ( I suspect "charge" might not be the right term).

If you call the Land Registry helpline they are often very good at explaining what is and what is not possible/usual. Give them a go.

Thank you all, that's very reassuring. The attempts at bullying and intimidation are off the chart, it's making me question my own sanity. I had the charge (sorry if that's the wrong term - I suspect you are right) put on because although we are married, my name is not on the mortgage.
I will call the land registry helpline, I didn't know they had one!

This is exactly what I've done, seems it has massively put a spanner in the works and he is trying to intimidate me into having it removed
