I had a previous thread about this a few months ago as I'm on bed rest but I've got through lots of the books recommended and my top were

Into the darkest corner
American Dirt
The last thing to burn
The house across the lake
The lies you told
Blood orange
Girl A
Rock paper scissors
I let you go

I'm still on bed rest maternity leave and would love to get into something gripping, a little scary at times, psychological with a twist I didn't see coming!

The Collector is good, though I don’t think it has a ‘twist’ particularly.

Definitely fits the disturbing angle though!

The silent patient by Alex micheliades
The Turn of the key by Ruth ware
Still house lake by Rachel Caine
Pretty girls by Karin slaughter

Definitely The Collector - and also, Room, which is on a similar subject. Room is the only novel I've had to start reading again as soon as I'd finished it - it's so compelling.

Also recommend the Silent Patient.
Verity Colleen Hoover (a bit poorly written but gripping)

... Room is seriously disturbing, but it doesn't have a twist. Affinity by Sarah Waters is very psychological and has a great twist that I didn't see coming at all (but in my opinion, isn't really all that disturbing - it's a great novel, though).

My absolute favourites are the classic Yellow Wallpaper and Such Small Hands by Andrés Barba. Short, but utterly chilling with brilliant twists. It's described as a ghost story, but it shouldn't be (no ghosts!).
