How was your insulin resistance diagnosed?

I keep reading a lot of posts about insulin resistance. If you have this how was it diagnosed? Have you been offered any treatment? It seems a relatively new problem but maybe it's just talked about more these days.

Fasting glucose test.

I'm diabetic and have pcos (and a million other things!) and it goes hand in hand with that.

I'm on metformin, aloglyptin and jardiance.

Thank you. I see lots of posters saying they have insulin resistance so I'm interested in how this is being diagnosed.

There's a bit more info here. It's an American site but it's no different.

Take a look on youtube searching metabolic syndrome, and choose a video from a reputable source.

Insulin resistance is astonishingly common, and has devasting effects on health. But because it is so common, and there is no drug to push profit to be made, and is caused by lifestyle choices we do not want to challenge, it is pretty much ignored.

Thank you, I'll have a look. I'm more interested though in if people are being officially diagnosed and how.

@Cheesedoffandgrumpy If not diagnosed and treated it can lead to type 2 diabetes. Generally it is symptomless though.

HbA1c test.

Yes they are.
Through blood tests.

Do you think you may have it?

DietStartsM0NDAY · 08/04/2023 18:28

By blood test for me. Have just been prescribed semaglutide tablets to try and help me lose weight.

I had PCOS which is related to insulin resistance. Bloods were usually normal but diagnosed by symptoms
