To feel like I just can’t cope with another viral illness

For the last few months at least one of my children have been ill, most of the time both of them.

Starting from early December they have had
on and off fevers for one thing or another
conjunctivitis (passed around to the whole family)
croup - little girl gets this repeatedly
Stomach illness
strep (over Christmas Day)
coughs
colds
ear infection
broncolitis (think I spelt this wrong)
UTI
covid (not badly)

My little girl is 5 and has just started at school last year and it was inevitable that it was going to be a bad winter season.

My son is 15 months and so is picks up everything his sister brings back from school. He also has teeth coming through and has hit a sleep regression.

I am beyond tired, I just don’t know if I have it in me for one more virus in our house. I could sit and cry.

Does anyone have any advice?x

No advice unfortunately, but has been the same in our house this winter (1 year old and 4 year old, both at nursery). Chest infection last week has just about finished me off and DH has had nasty conjunctivitis in the last week too. It’s so shit! Fingers crossed things improve when the weather eventually gets better…

I should probably say, there is maybe 2-3 days between them getting over something before they get the next thing.

And they are on sambucol & immune defence vitamins
dont know what else I can do😔

I would take 4 months of viral respiratory illnesses over noro, 10 times out of 10.

just done 10 days with noro. Sick of vomit and diarrhoea and not sleeping.

This winter has been the worst winter I've had with my kids with the never ending chain of bugs and viruses. My longest illness free streak since October has been 3 days. Ita soul destroying. Beyond grateful that I've an uber understanding employer.

I completely sympathise OP, we've had every virus going in the past few months! I've been on mat leave, I haven't been out much, and me and the 5mo baby have caught everything my elder DC have brought home, from Covid to the wretched norovirus - the baby was actually hospitalised with Covid.

It's been absolutely fucking horrible. It feels like you get rid of one thing, then another bloody thing crops up the next day!

You're all massively run down.
When the older child is off school for Easter, can you effectively go into lockdown for a couple of weeks? Staying home, only going out to the park when nobody else is likely to be there. Lots of rest. Everything delivered. It would give you two weeks of rest and a break from viruses so you could have a little bit of time feeling well.

How many bouts of bronchiolitis has the younger one had? We were given a preventer and a reliever inhaler because of recurring bronchiolitis when DS was 2, it didn't stop the bugs but stopped us having to go to a&e every month.

My house been horrendous.

Youngest got conjunctivitis which spread to all of us.

Youngest been I'll nearly every week for the last 4 months or so.
Shes in reception.
Just finishing another course of antibiotics.

Hope it settles over he next few months.

But last few weeks been horrendous. She missed 3 days of school last week.
