My first baby is due in the next few weeks. Had a pretty smooth pregnancy which I’m very grateful for. I’m pretty close to my mum, we did a lot together but since I’ve been pregnant she’s really taken no interest (she already has 2 GC).

I have a few pregnant friends due a similar
time and they’ve been going shopping, out for lunch etc with their mums, and generally just spending time together before babies arrive. I have asked my mum to do a few things but I never really get a straight answer and if we’ve done anything it’s been last minute not planned. I guess I’m just feeling a bit disappointed, but am I expecting too much from her? If you have a daughter would you make a bit if effort to do a few nice things together before she had her first baby? We’ve always been close but it feels the opposite at the moment.

She also made a comment about once the baby is here and basically said ‘you’ll just have to let me know if you want me to do anything’. I imagined she’d be a bit more proactive in the first few weeks but again maybe my expectations are way off. Maybe it’s the hormones but I feel a bit sad about it all.

Hmm… you might like more involvement from your DM but we see an awful lot of threads from those who think theirs are too keen! May be tell her how you feel.

i think I’d just ask if she’s ok, maybe she has other thins on or she’s worried about you in some way? Could you ask your sibling if they have any insight?
