What’s this rash on my husband? Driving me insane!

Fed up of his moaning.

he’s got a painful blister rash on the palm of his hand, his arm and now his elbow. He’s tried getting a doctors appointment but nothing until May. He’s been to the chemist and they have him steroid cream but it’s not getting better.

Insect bites? Scabies?

Socrateswasrightaboutvoting · 25/03/2023 19:42

if it is spreading this constitutes an emergency appointment.

Socrateswasrightaboutvoting · 25/03/2023 19:44

Not A&E but a same day appointment. If that makes sense.

Marymary987 · 25/03/2023 19:44

Shingles?

Ireolu · 25/03/2023 19:44

Shingles if painful with fluid filled spots

ChocHotolate · 25/03/2023 19:46

How long has he had it for?

davegrohll · 25/03/2023 19:46

Doesn't shingles stay on one side of the body ? Is it all on the same side op?

Indoorvoicesbluey · 25/03/2023 19:47

It is only on one side!

he’s had it since Monday

are all patches on the same side of the body? If so, shingles would be my guess given it’s painful and blistering.

DailyEnergyCrisis · 25/03/2023 19:49

X posted with others. Get onto 111 as antivirals are most effective if started asap.

GoodChat · 25/03/2023 19:50

The blistering looks different to the other photos. The other photos look like a fungal infection. How long has he been using the steroid cream for?

The blistering looks like hives. Might even be a reaction to the steroid cream. Give him an antihistamine and see if it helps.

Changingthegame · 25/03/2023 19:50

Shingles is my guess

legalseagull · 25/03/2023 19:50

Shingle if red patches with water filled blisters - only on one side of the body and tracking a line. It hurts!

davegrohll · 25/03/2023 19:51

Could very well be shingles then ! Sympathies, mine really hurt

DailyEnergyCrisis · 25/03/2023 19:52

None of it looks like hives or fungal infection to me (ex pharmacist of several years and much personal experience of allergy).

KathySelden · 25/03/2023 19:53

Cellulitis can appear to be like blisters. Another vote for go to hospital or a minor injury’s

efeslight · 25/03/2023 19:53

Shingles I think. Anti virals might help cut short the recovery time

ChocHotolate · 25/03/2023 19:57

The areas affected are covered by different dermatones (nerve), it would be unusual for shingles to affect more than one dermatone in a usually healthy person

CheeseMeltCracker · 25/03/2023 19:57

Almost definitely shingles. Ouch.

raffegiraffe · 25/03/2023 20:06

Another vote for shingles. To me it looks like it's all in C7 dermatome

Mumma · 25/03/2023 20:12

Take him to the pharmacy. The pharmacist will check.

Fifiellz · 25/03/2023 20:15

Looks like shingles to me too

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 25/03/2023 20:15

On the palm of the hand?
That'll be Wanker's Chafe.

On the arm and elbow?
Just how dexterous is he?

HappyAsASandboy · 25/03/2023 21:10

Looks like shingles to me. When I had it the rash areas hurt like hell - felt like chilblains. I didn't get the antivirals early enough to help and eventually I hurt all over, not just the rash areas (which also spread). Hurt significantly for about 3 months, hurt annoyingly for over a year, and the rash scared for about 6 years Confused
