Just this really, inspired by many threads on here that see so many mners slagging off older people over politics, brexit etc. This probably would not encompass their parents etc.
They forget 30 or 40 years down the line when they are older, younger people will moan about them. The ageism and disablest threas on here are awful sometimes. You never know if it could be you or your family on the receiving end.
I'm not bothered if people want to get frothed up, triggered or make a big deal of this by the way I'm just venting on behalf of older people and the boomer shite which can just fuck right off.

Well, yeah. Just like most OAPs I know moan about youth. They were also young once. I don’t see what difference it makes?

There are mumnsnetters who are pensioners.

From Alleluyah (Film based on an Alan Bennett play)
"Nobody likes old people, even old people don't like old people"
Attitudes to old folk in the Uk are scandalous.

I retire in 3 years so I'm nearly there.

I won't go to the shops on a Saturday (not keen on crowds). I prefer to shop at 7am.

I don't use buses and still Parkrun so hopefully won't need anyone to give up their seat for me for a while.

I have banked online for decades, only use the post office for occasional parcel collections.

I don't grumble about loud music, barbecue fumes, building noise, children screaming in fun or peering over garden fences.

I don't expect my ds to cook my Xmas lunch or arrange my social life or lay my patio, or all the things my DM seemed to think hitting 63 entitled her to.

I do use the NHS - recovering from BC - but I'm not going to apologise for that. I've paid higher rate tax for 37 years so I think I can have that one without feeling guilty. It's only 3hrs every 6 months. I go to my GP about once a year (normally for DS).

I intend to enjoy being chilled out and as little irritation as possible, for as long as possible. 😄

Of course they will!

BarelyLiterate · 27/07/2023 18:31

It doesn’t matter how old I get, there are three things I will never, ever do :

1, Drive at 29mph on a NSL road causing a huge tailback behind me.

2, Go to the supermarket on a Saturday morning & get in everyone’s way when I had all week free to buy groceries.

3, Vote Tory.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 27/07/2023 18:38

When I gave up work I vowed never to visit another supermarket during non working hours. I also shop alone not accompanied by my partner, siblings or descendants. I do pay tax and I don't vote Tory. Is it ok if I survive a bit longer?

Zebedee55 · 27/07/2023 18:42

Jeez, I'm a pensioner. I don't shop at weekends, I don't vote Tory, don't block the roads, and I don't moan about youths as a whole.

Hope that ok with the young generation lol 🙄

pickledandpuzzled · 27/07/2023 20:10

Honestly isn't moaning about people different from you pretty normal? The young moan about the old, the old about the young, the noisy about the quiet and so on.

It's a mixture of grass is greener envy, and misunderstanding.

If we were all better at managing our own mental health, we'd moan less about everyone else!
