DS (4) has had chicken pox for 8 days, he's been fine within himself but obviously a bit miserable about the itching. Hasn't had a temp since the first day. Yesterday he suddenly went off his food, then he's woken up with a temp of 40.5. I've checked all of the scabs and they don't look infected or anything. He says his stomach really hurts. Could this still be related to Cp or is it probably something new? He hasn't even been around anybody as he's been off nursery so I'm not sure where he would even have picked anything up!

Hi,
It could be, my 2 yr old had chicken pox in the summer and he had a temperature on the first couple of days and then on and off for the next 2 weeks. He was also getting new spots for the full 2 weeks. it was just a really bad case.
Being off the food may just be that he has spots in his mouth, as mine did. I found that cool drinks, yogurts and compot were the only foods he tolerated some of the time.
Good luck! I hope he is better soon

just to add, if the temperature doesn't go down with calpol, then I would definately call the doctor, that is a high temeprature!

I would be asking for advice from the GP. He’s already been ill for over a week, and this is a new symptom.

Call the go but yes it could be. Dts had awful chicken pox, they ended up needing three weeks off school.

Just to update we saw a dr and they sent us straight to our local hospital, he's now on a ward as he has a secondary infection. Waiting for antibiotics to kick in
