Please read! I’ve fucked my knee

Has anyone ever sprained or stretched their knee before? How long did it take to feel normal again?

i posted on here about 4 weeks ago (ish) when I fell off my horse. For context- I still don’t know quite how it happened but my leg caught caught in something (I think in the stirrup leather) and I ended up dangling from my horse from my knee whilst getting dragged as he bolted. Eventually my leg become untangled and I fell off (which was actually a relief not to be dragged anymore.) I don’t know if it was the falling or the twisting of my knee that damaged it but maybe both.

my knee was so painful afterwards. I knew I hadn’t broken or dislocated it so I didn’t go for help immediately but I did after almost a week and was told I had strained or stretched it but it should resolve itself . There wasn’t much bruising or swelling

But it’s been 4 ish weeks now and it’s still so sore and stiff. It doesn’t hurt to walk on but when bending or straightening it it feels SO tight. It also gets stiff so quickly so after sitting down I can’t straighten or bend it and have to hop about until the seized feeling passes. It feels so tight and seized when I try to either bend or straighten it and it still doesn’t feel right. I’ve soo started getting the same tightness and pain and seized feeling down the calf and lower leg which is new since the injury

sorry for the long post! Has anyone ever injured their knee and have any advice? Starting to worry I’ve completely fucked up my knee and it won’t ever go back to normal!

I had a bad fall last year and injured both knees but one really badly. It wasn’t broken but very painful and I couldn’t put weight on it. I wore a brace, stopped using ice once I learned that it can slow down tissue healing and interfere with the body’s natural processes after the swelling - and got a better understanding of the function of the swelling.

I did small movements when still resting the knee in the first couple of weeks.

Also went onto anti inflammatory way of eating, went sugar free. Gluten free too as even without injury I get joint pain from gluten. Did intermittent fasting and that made a difference too. It took a few weeks but then walking was ok just not too far.

It’s been completely healed for a while now but I noticed some pain came back again after a period of comfort eating following a recent bereavement. Was so worried about it to begin with but really happy with how it’s healed

Damaged my MCL (physios theory) in October kicking a ball for the dog and then either did it again or also tore my miniscus (orthopaedics theory) in December putting socks on... 2nd time there was an audible pop and I could weight bear at all for 10 days. Am awaiting an MRI. Having weekly physio in the interim. It has good days and bloody awful, painful, stabby days.

I tore my meniscus in 2020. Excruciating pain and an audible (loud) pop like pp. Couldn't weight bear for a couple of weeks, Couldn't even move my leg when lying down for days without someone lifting it. Unfortunately it was during lockdown so difficult to access help.

Treatment was rest, ice, compression and elevation followed by physio but although it gradually improved it took months to heal. I still get days where I need to wear a support but they are rare now.
