Signing documents the day you die - suspicious??

Saw this on another forum - apparently the Queen signed a document about the Welsh government on the 8th September 2022 - the day she died. I know that my own grandparents would have been incapable of signing anything on their death bed, so think that this is a bit suspicious. A forged signature, or a forged date 🤔🤔🤔?

It’s legally permissible (and common) to date a document with a date after the date it was signed, so I expect that’s the answer. Sorry no drama 😀

KrisAkabusi · 23/03/2023 14:25

Oh good. Another royal conspiracy theory! 🙄

CMOTDibbler · 23/03/2023 14:26

The day my MIL died she was sitting up in bed arguing the toss about the very suggestion she would need a bed downstairs when she went home. In fact she spent most of the day arguing that she didn't need to be in hospital. At 5pm it was apparent she was actually going to die and the family was called, passed away at 9.20pm. She certainly would have been able to sign things

the80sweregreat · 23/03/2023 14:29

She met Liz Truss two days before she died.
She died ' in harness' as they say , signing a form was part of her days affairs , it's how she wanted to be.

greenspaces4peace · 23/03/2023 14:33

In my career I’ve seen many lawyers come to the hospital to witness forms being signed before death. Different health conditions means some people have a little bit of time to deal with things.

drivinmecrazy · 23/03/2023 14:34

It's quite sad seeing her signature, I'm looking at my dads investiture 'certificate' (it's framed on my kitchen wall 😂) from thirty odd years ago.
Her signature on the Welsh document shows the hand of age, still the same essentially but not as steady and bold as the one I'm looking at 😞

Silvers11 · 23/03/2023 14:38

If it's a genuine document ( which I doubt) she could have signed it after midnight before she went to be. On the other hand, it could just be someone making something up to start a 'Conspirator Theory'

Silvers11 · 23/03/2023 14:38
  • should say 'bed'
Silvers11 · 23/03/2023 14:39
  • conspiracy theory

Wish one could delete posts when you make a mess of them 🙄

Toddlerteaplease · 23/03/2023 14:50

She may have been up and about early, and became unwell mid to late morning. We don't know what happened.

SquirrelsAreStinky · 23/03/2023 14:56

On the day my wonderful dad died, we went to look at a care home together that he was due to move into on the following week. He had a neurodegenerative condition but wasn't expected to die for many years from it.

They did the usual questions, including asking re the Do Not Resuscitate question. Dad held my hand and said he wasn't ready for a DNR on his records just yet.

He collapsed and died that night.

He's now been gone for 10 years, but the memory of that conversation and his confident assertion that he wasn't ready to go still hits hard when I think about it.

loislovesstewie · 23/03/2023 15:04

Well my husband was talking to me and 10 minutes later he was gone. No warning, nothing.

Zizz · 23/03/2023 15:26

Well, it looks like she was more capable of signing it than the person who wrote 'eighth.'

Zizz · 23/03/2023 15:27

how very sad for you, @loislovesstewie

loislovesstewie · 23/03/2023 15:32

Thanks Zizz, for us it was awful, but the doctor said that he had the kindest death imaginable. He really would have known nothing, so we are grateful for that.

Fluffodils · 23/03/2023 15:35

Fake news

GoodChat · 23/03/2023 15:37

If she was of sound mind and there was a legal representative present it's fine.

Looks like they got the work experience kid to fill out the rest of it Grin

The day my mother died, she was in hospital with cancer. She was a solicitor, and was happily advising one of the nurses about divorce and what to do about getting a decent settlement etc, Half an hour later she had died. I think she knew because she had sent my dad home and told me not to visit, but to everyone else she seemed fine, the nurses were quite shocked.

Duckingella · 23/03/2023 16:23

There's a whole misconception that people know when they are dying especially the very elderly.

She was a very elderly woman with the issues that came with her age,had both known and likely unknown (at to the public health issues),had had covid previously and had not so long ago suffered the lost of the man who'd been her sweetheart since she was 13.

As many have stated on here with examples of their own elderly relatives is that they can died at a moment's notice at that age.

She lived well past then average life expectancy and served her country until literally the very end.

We'll likely never see another like her.

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 23/03/2023 17:15

My dad had 25 people round for a 6 course meal the day he died! He hosted and then died in his sleep. It happens.

Also what conspiracy even would it be? These sorts of documents are signed by the king or queen as a formality, nothing more. Its not like she decreed all first borns need to be killed and she signed it quick before she died is it?

He sounds like Jesus Grin what a legend. Sorry you lost him Flowers

Nimbostratus100 · 23/03/2023 18:02

absolutely ridiculous, I have letters from at least two relatives written on the days they died, one aunt, and one grandparent.
@StephieSlade what an earth is wrong with you? What stupid thing to say
