Football or Family party dilemma

Bit of a dilemma, I made a mistake with the time of Nephews burthday party at the weekend and it actually clashes with DS football match. We agreed he could play in the match but now I realise I have made a mistake! I think he is 7 and can miss the match as family party is important and its his cousins birthday. DH says no and he will come after the match, which would make them 2 hours late. Pretty much party would be wrapping up.
DS wouldn't really mind if I told him we were doing party instead but also would be happy to play football too.
What would you all do?

I would say for your son to go to the football and they can both pick you up from the party and say happy birthday then, doesn’t matter if it’s only a short time.

Family party. Missing a match at 7 isn't a big deal.

Hmm that's a tough one I think I'd do whatever ds would like to do and maybe you go to the party and bring the present and offer to have nephew round for tea or something

Depends if it means there then aren’t enough players for a match. But it’s only Tuesday, so I think it’s ok. I’d definitely prioritise the party.

Thanks all. I was upset last night that I had messed up and I guess I hoped my husband would say oh yes of course we should prioritise the parry. DS is saying he wants to do both so I do think we could say we had made the decision for him and he wouldn't care.
He just walked out the room when I was upset and said well I guess you can just hope it gets called off! Husband has in the past prioritised friends birthday parties so I guess it thought it would be the same for this.
