Can you taste the difference between green, red and plain ones?!

I can’t and never have been able to yet find myself buying them to re evaluate.

I can taste a textural difference but I'm almost certainly autistic and have numerous other sensory processing differences. DC who are autistic can also taste a textural difference in them.

CruCru · 21/03/2023 18:55

I think I can … but I suspect that it’s in my imagination

CastleTower · 21/03/2023 18:55

Definitely.

Candleabra · 21/03/2023 18:56

I think I can but I haven’t done a blind taste test so I suspect it is my imagination too. My kids won’t eat the green tagliatelle.

Rocket1982 · 21/03/2023 18:57

green definitely tastes different from yellow. Not sure about red though.

AncientBallerina · 21/03/2023 18:58

Yes I can - the red ones are kind of tomatoey and the green taste of green vegetable - it doesn’t really think taste of spinach as such. Spinach pasta for lasagne is yum!

BaronessBomburst · 21/03/2023 19:01

I can.
And I can taste the difference between pink and white marshmallows, even when blindfolded.
Green pasta has spinach in, and the red pasta has tomato.

Unhappyleprechaun · 21/03/2023 19:06

On a slightly related point, we had macaroni for dinner an hour ago.
I commented that its amazing how different shapes of pasta taste different even when the same colour). DS told me they taste the same to him (so it must be my imagination).

Fluffodils · 21/03/2023 19:07

I can if I'm eating say all the green ones in a row. If it's all mixed up or with tomato sauce then no

RonObvious · 21/03/2023 19:18

Finally, a thread addressing the important issues! I definitely can with the green pasta - not so sure about the other colours. Now I want to do a blind taste test!

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/03/2023 19:19

The texture of different shapes is far more important than the colours I find.

And I can pick out posh pasta from cheap!

Desert76 · 21/03/2023 19:31

They taste completely different to me. I don’t like the coloured ones at all, but they are often either fusilli or tagliatelle, which are my least favourite shapes, so that puts me off too.

Whyisitsososohard · 21/03/2023 19:39

I can with fresh pasta. I've also never had the squid ink one as I'm vegetarian and don't feel like that's something I want to eat. But I'm also funny about milk!

MapleSyrupSweet · 21/03/2023 20:18

No

KohlaParasaurus · 21/03/2023 20:21

No.

I am autistic and very texture sensitive - I can definitely taste the difference too!

scrivette · 21/03/2023 20:24

I can't but one of my DC (the fussiest) is convinced he can.

carriedout · 21/03/2023 20:27

Yes

AncientBallerina · 21/03/2023 21:09

I’ve had the squid ink one - you would definitely taste that!

Johnisafckface · 21/03/2023 21:33

I can't but I never eat them without sauce on them, so I s'pose that's why.

DramaAlpaca · 21/03/2023 21:45

I can't but my adult DS can.

I can with some fresh pasta but for example I have dried tri-colour fusilli in the cupboard and no I can't taste a difference between the colours even though i try/want to! Lol

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 21/03/2023 21:52

I'm still traumatised from being made to eat coloured pasta for school dinners. Plain, boiled, and passed off as 'salad'. White and green were fine. But red, dear god, it was foul. Just the thought of it is making me feel ill.

Megmargs · 21/03/2023 21:52

Yes, green is the best. Also, yellow mini eggs!

Youaremysonshine · 21/03/2023 21:53

Yes! And it was confirmed in my DNA traits that I have a more sensitive taste pallet thingy
