Sorry, not an AIBU, but perhaps there are some Scots here who can help out. We are going abroad with DS who is about to start P1 this August. He will have his first term (August to December) in another country and then come back to Scotland to join school from January. In order to get the right level for him, could you tell me, what do kids learn in P1 in Scotland please? Are they starting to learn phonics etc? How formalised is the school day compared to Preschool? is it like reception class in England, or more advanced?
