To find job hunting whilst having a job difficult

I'm currently applying to jobs and have been fortunate to hear back from quite a few positions so far as there's a shortage of applicants in my field. However, it's so difficult trying to find time for screening calls with HR and interviews (especially when they are in person 1+ hour away).

I'm in my notice period so can't take any annual leave.

I work from home most days, so do I just schedule them in during the work day and hope my colleagues don't put a last minute meeting invite in my calendar and then make up the time in the evening?

If you're in your notice period surely you can just book leave? I thought you meant you were hunting on the sly which is far more difficult!
