Holiday and child contact arrangements

Long term user but nc for this.

My DD8 sees her dad once a fortnight for 90 mins in a contact centre. This is court ordered due to proven domestic abuse (to me, not her). She also has weekly calls with him in addition to this.

I have booked a holiday abroad for the two of us over the Easter holidays, it is a 2 week holiday and so we'll be away when she is scheduled to have contact at the centre. My solicitor has emailed him to inform him of the dates and ask if the missed contact can be made up the following week. This would mean he sees her two weeks in a row after the holiday, before the normal fortnightly contact resumes. As an alternative, I also offered a video call on the original contact day instead of rescheduling. I will still facilitate the weekly calls while we're away.

Unsurprisingly her father is angry about this and has said he does not consent to the holiday or to contact arrangements changing for the week. I don't need his permission to take her abroad- the court order states that she lives with me and I can take her away without permission for up to 28 days. However I'm confused about where I stand with regards to effectively missing a contact session due to a holiday. Has anyone been in this situation? Am I being unreasonable? I fully understand that it's important that DD has regular contact with her dad, which is why I have offered contact the following week so that no time is missed overall.

In case anyone asks, my solicitor is very over worked and as yet I've been unable to get a proper answer from her about where I stand. Feeling very anxious about it all.
