…to be a bit annoyed by people using local parenting groups to sell things?

Just the title, really.

I am on a local parenting FB group that has some really helpful posts about local events for children, recommendations for child related services, discussions about parenting issues etc. But it’s getting nigh on impossible to find these posts as the page is being filled with people selling stuff - often not even child related. I don’t mind a little bit of that happening, as it helps the environment not to buy everything brand new and I understand some people really need extra money at the moment. But some people (often the same ones over and over) make several posts with one item in each, not even a single post with all the items they are selling, so there are tens of these posts a day and the page is swamped. Isn’t that what FB marketplace is for??

The page is almost wholly unusable now so I’m thinking of leaving it, even though this will mean missing the helpful information too. AIBU to find this a bit annoying?

YANBU. I think people should sell on selling pages and not use general info pages for it (unless specified in the group description)

These pages are hellish at the best of times. So although you are not being unreasonable per se, you are being unrealistic in how useful it would be in the absence of the recycled primark tat

Why not mention it to admin? I'm in a few Facebook groups and they all need clear rules to keep things running smoothly. Maybe the admin are inexperienced or unsure.

MLMs preying for victims are the worst in these groups, I think - YANBU.

Good idea. Thanks.
