I'm getting eggy cravings... This is insane as it's definitely bed time. Do I go or not?

Go for it

Domino20 · 19/03/2023 01:20

I'm the size of a garden shed from night time snacking..beware!

Reluctantadult · 19/03/2023 01:21

Well I've just had a marmite sandwich. Got woken up by the cats diabetic alarm. If cats having snacks, I'm having snacks.

theinbetweener · 19/03/2023 01:22

Oh definitely do it! Thought I'm confused by the term toast and soldiers? The soldiers bit is the toast sliced into, well, soldiers... if you're too sleepy to remember then is cooking a good idea? Maybe skip the egg and just have the soldiers.

CocktailOnion2 · 19/03/2023 01:22

You won't satisfy eggy cravings with toast & soldiers. Try dippy egg & soldiers or fried egg on toast . oooooo unless it's serious cravings and your having both fried egg on toast and dippy eggs & soldiers.
Either way crack on (see what I did there)

This. Same here. Crisps are my nemesis.

DramaAlpaca · 19/03/2023 01:23

Do it!

nokidshere · 19/03/2023 01:29

I just got home and my DS left a box of chocs on the mantelpiece for tomorrow so I opened them and ate half 😬😂 eggs would have been healthier.

LennyThePenny · 19/03/2023 01:41

Yeah, I meant dippy eggs..😅I'm still trying to decide... I mean I want them buuuut, it means I actually have to get out of bed....😂

Hope you know I was only teasing you OP. Go and make them, otherwise you'll be awake longer thinking about them anyway. Enjoy them!

Nimbostratus100 · 19/03/2023 01:44

I'm just off to make myself some breakfast....

Snap, I've just had a chicken sandwich 🤦

GalaApples · 19/03/2023 01:47

Hello fellow insomniacs. Have just got up and made cup of tea, but need something to go with it - really hungry. Nothing sweet in the house and don't want the bother of cleaning my teeth again.

Nimbostratus100 · 19/03/2023 01:57

see, I was just getting back into bed with my piece of toast, but now you have said cup of tea, I need to get up again

I've just gone downstairs and got myself some tea and cereal. While I was down there all the cats alleged they were hungry so I fed them too and changed their litter tray. So now I feel all virtuous and deserving of my bed picnic.

Of course the mug is so large that I will need to get up again in a couple of hours for the loo, but heyho.

704703hey · 19/03/2023 02:25

I took a catnap now want some food, crack on

Horsedoglover59 · 19/03/2023 02:32

Eggs would be too much effort this time of night, but toast and marmite sounds great. But the dog's just fallen asleep peacefully across my legs, and if I disturb her, then she'll have to re-settle, and we've got an early start and a mind-numbingly long journey tomorrow!

Rightsraptor · 19/03/2023 02:39

I'm managing to stay away from food proper but did go downstairs to make a hot chocolate. Milk and chocolate are a type of food so can I join this club?

I do wish you hadn't mentioned egg & soldiers. I can't get them out of my mind now.

Such a bugger going to sleep before 10pm because I was knackered, then waking at 12.30. Going to read myself to sleep, I hope

I'm glad there are no nuts in the house: they're my nemesis.

dudsville · 19/03/2023 02:44

I got into the habit of night time snacking when i was pregnant, so i also know the pitfalls. However, my favourite thing that's quick and satisfying is one fried egg on a piece of buttered toast. So quick and easy but i usually burn the roof of my mouth trying to eat it quickly!

LadyMargaretDevereux · 19/03/2023 02:45

I'd be happy with a nice cup of tea but I have the noisiest kettle imaginable and I don't want to wake the rest of the household who are all fast asleep. I wouldn't mind risking that if it was just dh, but this weekend it's also dd and her partner plus baby dgd. There's no way I want to wake up a 6 month old at this time of night. Really want a cup of tea though...

NumberTheory · 19/03/2023 02:47

Toast AND soldiers sounds greedy. I'd do it.

girlladywoman · 19/03/2023 02:50

Well?? Did you eat the eggs?

TyneTeas · 19/03/2023 02:55

I don't even eat eggs and think you should do this.

(I feel like Pat on Ghosts telling Allison to DIP IT!)

liveforsummer · 19/03/2023 02:59

I've finished a very busy pub shift and was in bed but couldn't stop thinking about food. Just got up and made a cheese sandwich despite needing to be back up in 4 hours. I'd love a dippy egg but don't have the energy to make that. Hope you enjoyed yours OP
