If people can’t insert some basic manners then the next person in line gets it. AIBU?

Currently someone has - 1) asked if it’s still available, when I said yes - 2) asked for another measurement . No please or thank you. So I’ll ignore it and wait for someone with manners.

Anyone else?!

They want you to deliver the free item to them because they have a job/are single parents/find it too expensive to pay for fuel for the car. As if you had written in the advert: "Single wealthy woman with lots of free time offers this item"

MrsBlondie · 18/03/2023 16:23

Selling a,wardrobe and someone asked me "will it fit in my car"
How the hell would I know 😅
(Measurements were in the ad)

Yanbu. I ignore the rude ones.

ohfibonacci · 18/03/2023 16:27

I am actually very tempted to message back to that effect, so they know the next time!

People who when you say it’s gone and being picked up tomorrow say ‘But I could collect it now’. They don’t even get the chance of a recall if the original person doesn’t follow through.

I cleared my late aunts house of effects.......Freecycle people gave me a breakdown....It was January, empty house, no heating.

can you measure it again as i might need to hire a van and dont want to pay.

can you deliver.

can you wait longer as not sure when i can arrive.

can you repair the loose hinge on the wardrobe.

why did you give item to another person....I said i was coming some time this week ?

I also then had to deal with the idiots from BHF who refused items as they were a bit dusty...!! I found selling items even for £1 attracted less idiots and timewasters.

IglesiasPiggl · 18/03/2023 16:37

I always wait a bit to get a few replies, then offer it to the person I think is most likely to turn up and collect when they say they will. That's usually someone who has given more than monosyllabic responses.

VivX · 18/03/2023 17:09

YANBU but I suppose it depends on how much interest you have in the item and how desperate you are to be rid of it.

I also wonder if there is a correlation between "no manners" and "no show".

Orangebadger · 18/03/2023 17:20

My bug with freecycle is when they just simply don't turn up to collect and don't have the decency to tell you! Happens so often on freecycle. People wait in expecting someone to collect ffs. It's so bloody rude and infuriates me that when no money is involved common courtesy flies out the window!

Shufflebumnessie · 18/03/2023 17:34

No manners, no item (even if you were the first to comment). The people who say "yes" without actually reading the description and then proceed to send many, many messages asking you to repeat it all.
