To tidy someone else's garden without permission

We live next to a village pub. It has shut down as was losing money. Still owned by some company I think but has stopped trading

The pub garden is across from ours. You can't see it from our garden but I walk past it to go on dog walks, get the car, numerous times a day. I open my back gate and there it is.

Did not mind one bit walking past a quiet country pub garden. And meant house we live in was actually affordable. But now the pub garden is horrible. people keep throwing rubbish in there. Random pint glasses full of rain water. The old umbrellas are soaking and smelly. A union jack flag has appeared. I look at it 8 times a day.

Is it weird/unreasonable for me to hop over the fence and tidy it up? Am I trespassing? Do I need to get out more?

Mention it to your local councillor as fly tipping falls under their remit. At the very least they can contact the owner to find out what the future plans are (and a possible timeline).

I feel for you. I'd try to contact the brewery first - they'd probably be happy to have someone keep it tidy for free!
