Learning French but struggling without someone to chat to

I've been trying to learn on various apps and websites, I can read and write a small amount but not chatting to anyone and Learning organically is challenging.
Has anyone learnt before moving country?
Does anyone have any good websites where you can chat to a French person please?

There are lots of language conversation groups on fb where people connect for practice, also look at French expat groups where people do the same.

Do you have money to hire a tutor who does virtual lessons?

I found italki to be really helpful. They've changed their site in the last couple of years, so I'm not sure if you can still chat to native speakers for free (in a 50/50 situation where the other person is learning English so half the conversation is in English), but it was immeasurably useful for me a few years ago, and I'm totally fluent now.

Some Rosetta Stone courses allow you to speak with a tutor I think?

I started re-learning French in lockdown. I’ve just signed up for a group French course at a local adult education centre near me.

I used to do Spanish there before covid and the higher level groups encourage lots of speaking practise. Also made some friends Smile
