To contain myself over intense celebrity crush? (Lighthearted)

Seeing some threads on celebrity crushes made me think.

Back in 2010 when I'd had virtually nil real relationship experience I developed a crush on an actor and being very much in the internet age I managed to -

  1. Find out exactly which house he'd lived in as a child
  2. Discover that we are separated by two contacts - I knew someone that knew someone who'd met him even though were were brought up 200 miles apart from each other and I have no friends or family in the acting profession
  3. Managed to find out his mum's telephone number online - she still lived in the house where he'd grown up as a child - now 12/13 year old me would've been all over this - phoning her etc - but luckily by 2010 I was old and wise enough to refrain from phoning and bothering the poor woman !!

I had such a crush on this actor I had many sleepless nights thinking about him back in 2010 Blush

But just thinking - it's so easy to find stuff out isn't it? ! still think he's gorgeous and still amazed that I've spoken to someone who's close to someone who's met him!!

Anyway, I've now got a DP so I've got crushes under control (I think) Grin

13 years on - I've still not met him but now had real life relationships!

ooh I want to know who he is- can I guess?

Phos · 08/09/2023 15:31

Come on OP you can’t give us all this and not say who he is!!

TomatoSandwiches · 08/09/2023 15:32

That is quite an obsession, more so than normal tbh, thankfully you've managed to calm down.

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 08/09/2023 15:36

Meh, I went to my obsessions home village this year, and I'm not even ashamed!
I've done all kinds of daft stuff for him, it's fun, and harmless, besides I'm very happily single and have other interests, do other things too and have a very ordinary life.

TomatoSandwiches · 08/09/2023 15:38

@TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening If there are deliberate choices to do things like go to his home town I find that a bit creepy tbh.

Dinojump · 08/09/2023 15:49

Yeah, this is unhealthy. Sorry.

They've designed a tour there for the fans.
I chatted to loads of locals who were lovely, very happy that people visit and very proud of him.
Oh, and the bakery is probably raking it in, their food is delicious too!

To be fair the title does say 'lighthearted'. Everyone has crushes and goes a bit crazy with them. Provided you recognise it and don't act upon the knowledge gained, it's kind of fine I reckon.

Won't look good if you're suspected of stalking in later life though 😂

Oh, absolutely agree!

But searching for family phone numbers is taking it a bit further than most of us would go, though...

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 08/09/2023 18:48

Oh god, I'd never contact family members, that's weird and creepy.
I'd never contact him, even if I could, it's just fun fantasy.
I really am a sane adult.
