Chance of it happening? Pregnancy.

Mostly a 28 day cycle, period lasts about 6 days. Had sex on days 12 and 13 (assuming day 1 is first day of period). Could this result in pregnancy? No ewcm until days 14 and 15 and ovulation pains on day 15 and 16.

What's the chances?

Should have added-NC'd for this!

I’m no expert but that’s an average cycle length and if ovulation occurs roughly half way through it (generally speaking, of course) and sperm can live for a few days, there’s definitely a chance.

I found EWCM (and baseline body temperature also, actually) unreliable in predicting ovulation. I also hardly ever got a positive ovulation predictor test before conceiving, which suggested to me that I was quite wrong about when I always imagined I had ovulated.

Well, some of us have found it is a lot harder to get pregnant than anyone has ever let on. Everything we were taught is wrong and you can bathe in semen for months or years on end and no baby happens.

So my view is that it is more likely you aren’t than you are. But with the caveat that it’s not the case for everyone: it seems there are fertile unicorns out there.

Hurrahforspring · 14/03/2023 18:09

@Wednesdaysotherchild sorry to hear of your struggles. I hear you! Usually have the same disappointment each month too when period arrives. Was hoping this months timing may be better but worried we DTD too early now... Definitely no fertile unicorn here!

Thanks @Bensmum1988 . Haven't been charting temperature, just go by ewcm and ov pains which probably isn't the most reliable. Really thought we'd be in with a good chance but starting to think we were a bit too early this month. Not that I hold much hope nowadays for a positive regardless of when we try!!

Day 12 is the optimum day for a 28 day cycle. You want the sperm to be there for a day or two so they're ready and waiting when you ovulate. Good luck!

Hurrahforspring · 14/03/2023 18:44

@MeinKraft day 12 even if the ewcm and ov pains happen afterwards?

Have you tried using Clearblue ovulation sticks? I was using cheap tests, ewcm and ov pains for far too long and with no success. They’re quite pricey but in my experience are spot on and I have got pregnant several times now from using these for timing. Good luck!

Aw, good luck! I always say sex ed classes have a lot to answer for as I remember the realisation that TTC wasn’t as easy as they made getting pregnant sound. Wishing you all the best.

GoodChat · 14/03/2023 19:14

Have you had tests etc OP? If there are no obvious issues I'd recommend the ovulation tracker apps. We conceived on the second month twice with them. Obviously it's still pure luck.

Yeah well in my experience. Any time I was successful i conceived on day 12 or 13 and I've been pregnant 6 times 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hurrahforspring · 14/03/2023 19:27

Thanks everyone, going to look at buying the ovulation tests and will suss out the app too.
@MeinKraft thanks for the positivity, good to know it is a possibility!
Will update with the outcome in case Google directs someone here in the future...

Anyone else got any experience?

Felt some cramping, dizzy, fatigue etc so got my hopes up. AF due tomorrow. Tested last night on a clearblue and BFN.
Typical, turns out timing wasn't good after all!
