to want to change my midwife appointment?

Was given a midwife appointment months ago, which clashed with a team away day at work. My manager changed the team away day to accommodate me. Now I have a text saying the appointment has been moved to (guess when?) the new date of the away day next week. There is a number to call if you cannot make the appointment but they never answer the phone. You leave a message and they never call you back. I have a mobile number for the 'team leader' so I suppose I will have to call her (my named midwife is on maternity leave), but I'm not sure what to do if she doesn't call back. Do I just not turn up??

Is she based at your gp surgery? I’d send a message through them to say you can’t make the rescheduled appt.

Use their system and put the ball in their court. Make the call and let them find a convenient - for you - appintment.

Privately I think they delight in being awkward. With my first I was out every morning and asked for afternoon; when do you think they turned up? Every bloody time! With my second I told them not o bother. He came out ok.

Could you ring the switch board of the Hospital and asked to be put through rather than ringing the number on the letter? Sometimes you will be transferred to a different number and actually get to talk to someone. Or there maybe a Central Appointments section in the hospital who could change it for you.

You could also ask the person on the switchboard if there is an email address you could send a message to (this might be available on website)
You could send a letter (funnily the least efficient method gets the best result in my experience).

I cant believe your boss changed the away day. If your hospital is local just go there and change the appointment.

Do you you want or need the apt? You could just decline and not attend at all.

Really?? We are a small team, I am supposed to be presenting, and with plenty of notice it was not an issue.

The community midwife team is separate to the hospital, which is why I'm a bit stuck on who to call. I did try calling the hospital and they just gave me a mobile number which redirects to the same voicemail as the office number they gave in the text. I've left another voicemail for the team leader now (don't know her name), but I don't have high hopes of a call back...
