To ask what supermarkets do if you report a problem with an item?

I found a foreign object - possibly a piece of plastic - in supermarket own brand cereal. If I report it, will they actually look into it?

I had a similar experience a few months' back and reported the problem online (as it was from an online delivery) and they just replied that they would refund my money - rather than that they would look into how this had happened (which was what I had expected) - although maybe they did look into it but didn't mention that to me?

I've never had any problems like this before in my whole adult life and feel a bit awkward reporting another problem (same supermarket, different product) as it will look like I am just trying to get a couple of quid back, having done it before - - Is there actually any point in reporting it? I'm not really bothered about the money.

They'll alert the supplier and expect them to look into it - something has gone wrong in their process to let a foreign body through. The supermarket will issue you a refund and fine the supplier. If there are multiple complaints about the same thing, there might be a recall done.

It's not just about getting your money back - I always complain as these things are a choking hazard and it was largely down to luck that you found it rather than a young child.
