To ask how your LO chicken pox started

DD has had a lot of exposure recently to chicken pox so we've been waiting to see if it appears. I know no one can really tell me if it will be Cp or not but just wondering how your LO's started. DD has had a temp all day but no sign of a cold or showing any other symptoms of another virus, just the temp, feeling tired and off her food. Wondering if this is going to be the start of it or if it will just be yet another bug!

Tired, headache and vague, unplottable tummy ache the day before.

Splattering of spots after school the next day.

Fuck loads of spots the day after.

1 hellish say/night of being feverish, itchy and whingy.

2 more days of random spots appearing

Then they crusted over and disappeared fairly quickly.

Poxcilin was the best for us, the only thing my youngest would let us put on during hell day.

Started with a temp and one or two spots. He never got loads of spots, just a few more each day.
Calpol, piriton, calamine, virasooth and baths in head and shoulders or oat baths. All what got us through it.

No ibuprofen.

DS was also sick which apparently is a thing. So be prepared for that.

My son has just had it. No symptoms until received a call from his nursery asking to collect him as he had just come out in spots. They’d had a confirmed case the night before. When I collected him there were a few spots on his neck that weren’t there when I dropped him off 2 hours earlier. The next day more spots appeared but there was no temperature, sickness, off food or anything. He was just slightly itchy with it but otherwise fine.

There are quite a few cases going around his nursery now. I just used calamine cream as he didn’t seem to be too affected by it but I know it affects every one differently. I did buy Calpol but the pharmacist said just to give it if he had a temperature which he didn’t. I hope your DD isn’t too bothered by it.

No ibuprofen

Thanks everyone. He has a temp and is feeling pretty rubbish at the moment so he's just lying on the sofa. There's lots of cases at nursery so not surprised he has got it. I've just bought some calamine lotion and virasooth and have bought some oats to put in the bath so fingers crossed he they will help. Still only got a couple of spots at the moment but I'm guessing they will increase as the day goes on

Piriton
Poxclin

Oat baths - put oats in an old pair of tights and then squeeze all the gunge out and rub it all over them.

Wonder who and how they discovered that one!

Good luck!

I'm also on chickenpox watch after best friend of DS4 got them last week. Slight temp and didn't want tea last night but happy as Larry this morning.
I'm more worried about DD9 who never caught them while younger despite being exposed many times!

barbiedinosaur · 16/03/2023 10:27

@AhhSlippedOnMahBeansRitaaa oh no, hope they don't catch it! I'm just waiting for DD to now catch it from Ds. Still only a few spots on DS but he is feeling really poorly bless him
