I want to begin this by saying when I was younger I drank and took drugs so before anyone accuses me of not understanding, I do.
I’ve noticed lots of recent videos online about mums who smoke cannabis. They say it makes them calmer, better parents etc. that’s fine if that’s how you function, but what happens if your child has an accident? Surely you wouldn’t be competent to drive? And It’s illegal to drive under the influence of any drug, so surely it’s a huge risk? I don’t drink these days and would certainly not drink if I was the sole cater of my DC and I wouldn’t allow both myself and my partner to drink at the same time, even if my DC were under someone else’s care, just in case. Surely if you’re a single parent or the sole carer with no one else in the building, smoking cannabis is just as risky as drinking enough to put you over the limit? It makes you slower, less quick to react.
I’ve noticed lots of mums (not dads for some reason) making videos about them being parents who smoke and I’ve seen lots of supportive comments. Does anyone have any experience of this? I couldn’t function on cannabis when I was a young woman, let alone an old, knackered one! Is it risky or am I just having a different experience? And before anyone accuses me of not understanding mental health I have ADHD which causes anxiety and depression so I do.
Trying not be be judgmental, although I may sound it, I am just confused at how this is low risk when a mother who posted she was drinking a glass of wine or 2 at 9 am would probably have social services called?
