IMO it's normally so that pictures can be sent, booty calls etc. I used to resist it for a while as there's simply no need + I don't like giving out my tele number too early on.

Gawd took me ages to work out that OLD meant online dating and not just that when you get older you start using WhatsApp 🙃🤣. I was trying to work out what you'd be using it instead of because you're older haha.

I thought this was a youth thinking that WhatsApp was for old people 😂

Way back when I used to OLD, I hated the while rigmarole of opening the app and dealing with a rubbish user interface, lagging etc, especially when I was flicking with WhatsApp messaging friends etc. So I was always happy to move to WA quickly. Never had issue with unwanted pics or calls etc

Every motive is different Do what you feel comfortable with. No man worth your time will rush you.

Never understood this need to move to WA as the messages will still read the same, and this is what l will tell the buggers. Its lazy in my opinion becausethey cant be botheredto check the OLD app, and or they hide the OLD app from the DF. So l just tell them the messages will read the same on WA and if they persist then l know they have no resect for me. I dont give my number to someone l have never met, too mamy dodgy things out there

When I get a notification from a dating app, obviously I get my hopes up. Then I check that notification and discover that it's just a bloody marketing thing, not a match or a message from a person. WhatsApp doesn't do that.

I agree that WhatsApp is handier than checking apps all the time when you get messaging notifications BUT I would never agree to give out my number until I’d met someone and confirmed I liked them, they were genuine and we would be seeing each other again due to mutual interest.

Too often I had made the mistake of giving out my number and had men either stalk me, shower me with too many annoying messages, take offence when I didn’t want to see them again etc etc

protect yourself by having this as a hard rule, it’s worth it because there are a lot of frogs out there.

Scammers rush you into using Whatsapp, apparently. They build up rapport then ask you for money. Not been burnt myself but I have seen enough tv series about them.

Romance scammers want you to do this so they can drain your savings for imaginary drill bits to fulfil their imaginary multi million pound contracts in Hawaii. Then they’ll send you a photo of themselves looking very handsome in a hospital bed with the obligatory nose tube to extort more cash. It turns out handsome McGee will be a South American actor and that’s a screenshot from Chile’s version of Holby City. In short, don’t move away from the dating platform and you’ll hang onto your money whilst Jose Menendez lives to fool another pensioner from Scunthorpe.

I've done it before purely so I can escape the grim dating apps!
