To tell you if you are suffering with incontinence

To get your folic acid leaves checked?

I’ve been suffering from stress incontinence which I put down to age, having a baby, peri menopause etc

Then I had some bloods done for something else and my folic acid levels were on the floor. I googled the symptoms of that and there were loads
of things I’d been suffering with including incontinence. I didn’t think a huge amount of it but I’ve been on a supplement for a week and I’ve stopped peeing myself when I cough

it’s early days and maybe it’s a coincidence but I’m really hopeful this has fixed it and I had no idea things like this could cause it. So if it’s happening to you push your GP to check your bloods..it might just help!

Mine was caused by myasthenia gravis. I only got it when exercising, but I definitely ignored it much longer than I should have

I had to Google that. Hope you’ve got some good treatment for it.

I feel like we just assume incontinence is normal
and inevitable and it can have so many causes many of which are totally treatable and we don’t have to suffer

Yes under the care of a really good neurologist now thank you Smile. I hadn't heard of it until and optician said he thought I had it, then all the things I had been struggling with suddenly made sense!

Agree - I think any kind of messaging that this is just something we should put up with, without medical investigation, is problematic
