Does anyone have a leather L-shaped sofa with motorised footstool? Are they worth the £3.5K?

As per the title, we are looking to upgrade our sofa and today fell in love with one of the l-shaped leather sofas in dfs with the footstools that come out when you press the button.

Does anyone have any experience with these please and would you recommend?

Tia x

We have one from Costco and I love it.
Sadly they don't do it anymore

SweetFarmKitty · 11/03/2023 15:33

Thank you Bruce have you had it long?

We have one. We have had it about 10 years and probably used the motorised bit about half a dozen times. It’s a bit of a faff though as it sticks out in to the room and we can’t leave it plugged in or it’s a trip hazard. If the plug was directly behind where it needed to be we might use it more. It is comfortable.

Thanks for the tip about the socket Through, didn't think about that.

If we got one and it lasted 10 years I would be delighted!

I woulsnt buy from DFS end of. Appalling quality in my experience (currently sitting on a DFS sofa).

We got one a few years ago - in our old house we used the pull out thingies all the time, and if the kids had sleepovers it made an excellent bed too. In the new house it’s not near a plug - we have a charging unit we can unplug from under the sofa but we never remember and so it’s not been used in a good 6 months. So basically, if it’s near a plug you can leave it constantly plugged into I reckon they are really good - otherwise you will forget (like me) and once you remember you already want to recline and will be too lazy to get up and charge the unit so you can!

Thanks Dress. The reclining chair parts of the sofa are really comfortable, have a bad back so I think we might go for it. Also looks easy to keep clean with the leather etc.

We got ours about 3years ago from Fishpools, Waltham Cross and are delighted with it.
Fishpools service is second to none

Yes, and yes. Wouldn't ever go back now.

We got two from Darlings of Chelsea about 12 years ago. They still look good. V V comfortable and even more so with the footstools out. We have handy sockets, thankfully.

Thanks guys!! Appreciate the input and so glad these sofas last. The ones we have now are also from dfs but are the soft fabriced spongey centred kind and they look misshapen after only 4 years or so, also saggy etc. So would like to invest in sofas that will last a lot longer next time.

Leather sofas are the only ones with proper upholstered cushioning nowadays. Instead of separate cushions that continually need plumping and re-shaping
