Currently on holiday, it’s the Germans making all the noise

They seem to be a good natured bunch, but there are groups of them taking over areas of the pool/hotel with their noise. It seems unfair that the British get the blame for holiday disruption? All the brits here at the moment are reading their books/kindles round the pool!

In what way?
It sounds like they’re just existing and that bothers you.

Acceptable activities near a pool aren’t limited to reading books.

Coffeepot72 · 09/03/2023 06:47

I have not said their behaviour is unacceptable, just that they appear to be the noisiest nationality here

Brits tend to get slated for getting hammered and puking all over the streets, or falling in the gutter half clothed. Not for being too noisy at the pool.

AllWorkYoPlait · 09/03/2023 06:49

Germans are usually slated for getting up early and reserving sun loungers with towels.

Fairyliz · 09/03/2023 06:51

This is mumsnet so you have to be embarrassed and ashamed to be British, after all we are responsible for all of the ills in the world, whilst simultaneously being a tiny insignificant country.

In reality there are annoying people and pleasant people in every country. You just have to hope you are on holiday with the latter.

romdowa · 09/03/2023 06:53

Head down the strip around 1 am and then tell us who's the roudiest bunch. All the brits by the pool are probably too hung over to be making noise 🙄

Oblomov23 · 09/03/2023 06:54

It's annoying when there is any loud group on holiday, Germans, or a loud stag do, or any group really.

Ylvamoon · 09/03/2023 06:59

How do you know your fellow holiday makers nationality?
What's the unacceptable behaviour?
Other than taking, of course!

Maybe you are just tuned into their conversation because you can't understand what they are saying. My advice: concentrate on your book!

ibuymeownflowers · 09/03/2023 07:00

Whats the issue here?

Badbudgeter · 09/03/2023 07:02

I think whatever the noisiest/ largest group is a bit of a pain. Russians, Germans, British are the usual suspects. I’d agree with a PP it’s at 1am that the Brits are often in poor form.

Younger people don’t seem to drink the same way so maybe it will improve over the years.

Ten housepoints for the most pointless and pathetic aibu in aeons
OP is just bored and undiplomatic

We were on holiday in Italy a few years ago, there were 6 apartments and one shared pool. Mainly families with dc and all Italian except for us Brits and one apartment of young Dutch blokes. It was the Dutch guys who made loud noise all day! They were really enjoying themselves, nothing out of control or annoying, they were having a great time but they were definitely the noisiest out of everyone 😂

ilovesooty · 09/03/2023 07:06

Have you monitored everyone closely for your nationality census?

LlynTegid · 09/03/2023 07:15

You've got up early OP to make this comment?? Or are you having a holiday in a country in the Middle East where same sex relationships are illegal?

That was probably because they were a group of young lads rather than that they were Dutch though.

We camp in Europe and there are always lots of Dutch. They tend to go to bed really early and get up really early!

When I was on my Zen Monastic Retreat it was the bloody monks chanting 'ommmmmm' all the time that niggled me.

Well, that and being thwacked with a big stick whenever I dozed off.

😑

Coffeepot72 · 09/03/2023 07:45

There don’t appear to be any monks here!

Some people speak & understand other languages.

I’m with you here OP, the Germans have disturbed quite a few of my holidays recently. It seems to be groups of girls these days, dare I say mainly lesbians. They’re so fucking rude, they’re the ones who always smoke in no smoking zones too.

The Dutch know how to party

Schmutter · 09/03/2023 08:03

We were in the Caribbean for the last 2 weeks.

Not a representative survey as the hotel guests were predominantly only from the USA and UK, but my god - some of those Americans were LOUD. They seemed incapable of speaking at a normal level of volume.

IDontWantToBeAPie · 09/03/2023 08:03

Russians are often loud as well. Only way to tell is listed to what language they're using!

DuvetDownn · 09/03/2023 08:07

I think it’s a group thing. I always join the Facebook group for hotels I am going to stay in abroad and dread the posts from brides to be that say ‘I am getting married at the hotel in July and 40 friends and families will be joining us’.

DutchKatje · 09/03/2023 08:10

Enjoy your hols op.
