Children on Facebook / social media

Why do parents do this? Surely a child should make that decision when they’re old enough to decide whether they want their picture shared with the world? I find it distasteful as parents clearly are placing their own need for attention over how their child / baby would feel when they’re older.
So glad social media wasn’t around when I was a kid

Im not one for social media at all, but I couldn't be bothered being arsed about what anyone else does. Their choice. Are you saying we should be letting kids wait until they can give consent to their photo being shared? Seems ridiculous.

YABU, don't like it don't use it, unfriend or do t follow them.

They do it to spread the joy of others seeing photos, getting updated etc.
