To ask if anyone knows why there's a Medikinet shortage?

I'm struggling to get hold of Medikinet (a drug that treats adhd) for my kid. All the local pharmacies say their supplier does not have any.
Does anyone know why or when it will be back in stock?

I had the same issue 2 weeks ago. Managed to get some after a week by trawling round the local pharmacies. Asda ordered some in for me - do you have a big asda local to you?

There's been a rise in demand (lots of people got diagnosed during the pandemic, I assume the loss of everyday routines brought symptoms into sharp focus - ha! - for people who otherwise were sort of managing).

In the US at least, the DEA sets guidelines for how much of the medication manufacturers can make, but as far as I understand it, this is based off older patient statistics. So they're not up to date - and there's a shortage of Adderall. So doctors are prescribing the generics/alternatives instead, and now there's shortage of them too!

I had to call 15 pharmacies last week to get Concerta. They must have different suppliers because a couple I called said they'd see if they could order some in and then weren't able to, but the last one did the same and were able to order it in for me. So try lots of different pharmacies!

I have been struggling to get Medikinet for my child too for the past couple of months. Managed to get it this month no problem but I have heard there are pockets of supply issues. I really hope it gets resolved as it's very stressful, we can't live without this medication

It’s the same with many medications at the moment sadly. There are massive shortages across the board.

i have to phone to arrange delivery of DS medikinet today so hoping they can get it

Not sure but if it continues I'd go back and try one that is more readily available. I've had no issue with supplies of elavanse for my DD13 for example, but this is a slow release one which I only give her on school days. I'm really sorry, it must be so stressful for you

There's on ongoing manufacturing problem since 2020. It's not just that brand most methylphenidate have been effected.
You can ask for equasym if ypu can't get medikinet. Slightly different release percentage but works over same time period. Or one of the longer lasting brands such as delmosart or concerta
