To ask if you got with by our teenage crush?

It's my partner's birthday this week. I've known him since we were both 16 but thought initially he was out of my league. At that time, I was eager to be a svelte size 8 to impress him - now I've relaxed my weight standards ( but only slightly) Grin
We got together after being in relationships with other people and keeping in touch over the years ..
It's the way he deals with every day life I'm attracted to now rather than being the 16 year old who had a hopeless crush on him I could barely disguise. Blush

If you got with your teenage crush, how did this pan out?

Thankfully not, I now look back at those boys and can't see what I ever saw in them 😬

Yep. I did. We were 16 and I knew he was it. We stayed together through school, GCSE’s, A Levels, undergrads and postgraduate degrees. We got married at 21 and now have two DCs too. He’s the one. He was always too good for me, still is and always will be. I still pretty regularly think “what on earth do you see in me?” and then he gets answers wrong on Pointless and I realise he’s a muppet 😂

I met my husband when I was 16. We went to different schools and met on a school trip. We celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary this week :)

I met mine while on holiday and had a summer romance but my parents ended up moving there and so we ended up going to the same school. He was something of a bad boy, in a gang and was into street racing cars and I was more wholesome.

When we met at school he ignored me at first which upset me but he later apologised. I realised I was really into him, especially after seeing him win a street race. I changed my look to be more like him in an attempt to impress him (I know 🤭). But it worked! We got together and after a brief dance we drove off in a flying car.

Magical times.

Funnily enough, the reason I first fancied my DH is because he was playing Danny Zuko in the school musical 😂

We didn't get together as teenagers but got back in touch in adulthood and have been married for 9 years, 3 kids very happy.

OhmygodDont · 28/02/2023 11:49

Met when I was 15 and still here together so far at 31 three children and married. Three house moves and we camp so many a tent building testing time 😂.

BreviloquentBastard · 28/02/2023 11:56

In a round about way, yes.

He was my highschool boyfriend. I cleverly got pregnant at 16 and he, being also 16 panicked and we split up.

He ended up actually being a good dad to our daughter, even at just 17, did his very best for her. We stayed apart so I could focus on being both a mum and a student, which was quite enough for me without trying to be a girlfriend too.

We got back together at 19, married at 22, been together ever since. Daughter is almost 16 herself now. Everyone told us we were mad and it wouldn't last and no one stays with their high school sweetheart. But here we are.

maddy68 · 28/02/2023 12:04

Yes I was 16 when I got with my husband. Been married 30+ years

Can2022getanyworse · 28/02/2023 12:05

I met mine at school and we both fancied the arse off each other, but were already going out with other people.

Stayed in contact through uni but then drifted apart - he got married to the girl he was going out with, I went on to get married too.

Twenty years and two divorces later we met up, sparks flew and we're still together 10 years later.

Can2022getanyworse · 28/02/2023 12:06

*I should add we were both separated from our spouses when we got back in touch, nothing untoward!

JudgementalCentipede · 28/02/2023 12:07

Yes I did. I had a part time job as a waitress in 6th form and he was my manager and 5 years older. We got together when I was 24 and I'm almost 35 now and still together although we shouldn't be for many reasons, but he reminds me of the only period of my life that I was truly happy and carefree so I can't let go.

Meandfour · 28/02/2023 12:14

Yep; got together in y10 at school aged 15. Now both 32, married with 4DC, bought our dream home last year and have almost finished renovating it and we are living a life I could’ve only dreamed of.
Absolutely love him to bits and can’t imagine my life without him.

CosyCoffee · 28/02/2023 12:27

When I was 19 I started going to a pub where there was a gorgeous man who I was completely obsessed with. I remember chatting to him and discussing where we lived and thinking 'hm, not far to walk' ( neither of us had a car). He seemed as out of my league as any film star and I would daydream about scenarios where we would be alone together.

Reader, we have been married for 27 years this year. I still find him ridiculously attractive (though I appreciate this is entirely subjective) and daydream about him when he's at work. ❤️

hiredandsqueak · 28/02/2023 12:36

I didn't but now live next door to his mother. My teenage crush was a Billy Idol lookalike, he now resembles Eastender's Ian Beale before the weight loss so a blessing really I suppose.

Iwillhavethefullenglishplease · 28/02/2023 12:43

Yes, we met at 15. Through friends. We did our paper rounds together.
He's my best friend but a bloody nightmare too! I'd be lost without him.

BeetleyCarapace · 28/02/2023 12:44

No because my teenage crush was Jason Orange.
