To ask where to find a publicity agent?!

I know nothing about the media but I'm in business and think I could be useful in presenting a business related tv show or as a guest speaker at events, basically getting mine and my businesses name out there to the masses.

Does anyone know where I should start as I feel like google isn't the best place and it is more about recommendations? Does anyone have any? Especially since I'm not singing dancing or acting it's quite niche I guess.

Google some of your competitors and “press release” or “prwire” - if anything comes up it will usually have the publicist’s name on. Also worth checking PR Week, which is an industry magazine and finally you could Google your industry with “publicist UK” in the search and see what crops up. PRs are really hit and miss though, work on retainer and can charge a fortune. I think have some really clear ideas about what you want to achieve (e.g. if you’re a fashion brand maybe your ultimate goal is to be featured in Vogue, middle goal is Evening Standard and stylist.co.uk and low goal is local news or something).

Might also be worth speaking to some social media and marketing firms as they may be more helpful.
