girlfriend44 · 22/02/2023 14:46

How selfish can people be. The local foodbank had all the food stolen and now its empty?

why are people so selfish?
As the foodbank said if they were hungry they would have helped them?

I expect it was nicked to flog off for drugs money

Choconut · 22/02/2023 14:56

How awful :-(

Guis · 22/02/2023 15:03

A new low.

PenCreed · 22/02/2023 15:08

From the actual food bank? That’s shocking! One near me had their donation point in Sainsbury’s emptied, which was bad enough, but at least they get donations directly too.

Are you asking us or telling us?

Wasn't it locked?

girlfriend44 · 22/02/2023 15:18

they broke in somehow!

GoodChat · 22/02/2023 15:24

I don't think people who aren't desperate break in to food banks. Obviously it's despicable but lots of food banks don't help people without referrals.

susiella · 22/02/2023 15:26

Local authorities food banks will cease to exist next month. Probably just getting their stuff before then.

Ylvamoon · 22/02/2023 15:29

Must have been easy pickings otherwise they wouldn't have bothered.

Maybe the food bank needs to up their security.

RattlewhenIwalk · 22/02/2023 15:32

There are complete shits everywhere. What else is there to say really.

FightingFatAt49 · 22/02/2023 15:32

They didn't steal everything from the food bank because they were hungry. If that was the case, let's be honest, they would have taken some food not emptied the food bank.
I agree with PP they stole to fund a habit, or maybe just because they're evil scumbags! What a terrible thing to do 😠

Really?

Has it really come to this, that people steal from food banks?

These thiefs were not stealing because they were hungry. They did so because they are scum.

It’s always been this way, people have always stolen from charities which is why you will often see donation tins chained down.

Id bet these people haven’t stolen because they were desperate or hungry, they stole because they’re selfish and don’t give a shit about the people who might need the food

connie26 · 22/02/2023 15:54

The dregs of society and there seems to be more and more of them unfortunately.

Dotjones · 22/02/2023 16:01

The people who stole it presumably needed it and took the view that it was going to people in need anyway, so why not them? Personally I think it's a bit disgraceful but I wonder what the security was like, presumably not great if the place was completely cleaned out. Thieves usually target places with the weakest security, they're inherently lazy and will always take an easy option over a hard one (as evidenced by their thievery) so I guess it's a symptom of the times we live in that food banks are seen as "fair game" these days.

To be fair, criminal scum have never had much honour anyway, I remember when growing up my school got broken into and all our art projects got smashed up (no great loss to the world in the case of my effort). Scummy people do scummy things, hence the need to bring back the death penalty.

MothralovesGojira · 22/02/2023 16:04

People steal from charity shops all the time. It's rife where I am because most volunteers are older, there are no security tags and paid staff are so busy doing everything that it's just too easy. In December it's so bad that 2-3 are caught every day. We know that 80% of shoplifting is being organised by a gang master who runs groups of homeless people, alcoholics and drug addicts to steal higher end clothing but the police here seem powerless to do anything. It's so stressful. I'm not surprised that foodbanks get done over as well as these people look for weaknesses in security and exploit it. Our local gang master even gives out burner phones so that when one of his spotters finds a shop with high value items he then orders an Uber to pick them up and tells them where to go - he is (we know who he is with his high end car) absolute scum.

And people wonder why politician's have contempt for some of the public when stuff like this happens

QueefQueen80s · 22/02/2023 16:45

Hope they choke on their drugs.

Surely if this was the case they would just take what they need though

GoodChat · 22/02/2023 17:33

@OoooohMatron I'd taken anything this OP claims with a pinch of salt

CalistoNoSolo · 22/02/2023 17:45

Yes, people really are vile. A couple of years ago the local riding for the disabled charity had their show jumps, trailer and tack stolen. Nothing is sacred to a certain sector of society.

it was a food pantry so pay a cheap amount for food. They’re raising funds for better security but that will take away from the good work they do
