To ask for the hive mind's help identifying an 80s/90s film about twin brothers...

I have Googled in vain for this film, and I am hoping someone on here might remember it.

Definite facts:

The storyline involves a woman whose husband's twin brother is a criminal/killer. He takes her husband's place, but the audience only realises close to the end, when the man you think is the evil twin has been knocked out or arrested or incapacitated in some way. It's a really creepy moment.

It's not 'Dead Ringers'.

Hazy facts:

The actor playing the twins looks a bit like Nick Nolte.

It may be an American made-for-TV type film.

I think it must be 80s or 90s, but it could even have been late 70s. I think I saw it in the 90s and it wasn't modern then.

There might have been a scar involved - there was something that made the woman/the audience suddenly realise that the evil twin had taken the husband's place.

I have remembered it for years and it pops up and niggles me from time to time, so I would be really grateful if someone could name it!

Sounds like the 1980’s tv series Brat Farrar - it had Mark Greenstreet in it…

Thank you to everyone who has answered!

It isn't Face Off, Shattered, Raising Cain, Somersby, the Krays or the Scapegoat (old or new).

@Kittensat36, it's possible that's how he identified himself, I cannot remember.

@PatriciaHolm it really could be Echo! It is such a close match but there is something not quite right. I have just found it on Prime and sort of skipped through. At the end I don't remember the pregnancy part, it was dark and they were coming in to the house, and I can remember what that looked like and it wasn't the same. They came down a single step from the front door into the living room area. And the man involved was not as clean cut as the guy in Echo - he might even have had a moustache or something. It is more 70s/early 80s in my memory. And I don't think the good twin was a prisoner like that.

Just working through suggestions and looking them up - sorry I am a bit slow!

It isn't Equinox or Mr Murder or the Dark Half.

Gah I thought it sounded like that one from my twin list! IMDb didn't give enough plot info to be sure though!

Ah fabulous, that was the film I was thinking of too. Was going to have to look up Judd Hirsch to find it's name. It must have been good cos I remember it very well.
