How much spending money should a couple take to Turkey?

Hi All,

Going to Turkey in April (hopefully). Was wondering how much spending money should a couple take? We're going all inclusive so I doubt we'll spend loads on food.

Sorry for posting on AIBU - posted on here for traffic!

Thanks in advance

How long are you going for?

I would just take a debit card and withdraw money if needed, if ai it might not be needed much (we rented a car but that was on credit card and paid for petrol and lunch with a card)

Sorry I forgot to mention. For a week. Do most places accept card there? Does your UK a bank charge to use your card abroad?

I’ve never been AI in Turkey however I’ve always found it best to take English currency and change it when there as get a much better deal - usually at a local post office
Drinks aren’t as cheap as they used to be if you are going to go out elsewhere

The Turkish like to be paid in cash sterling rather than their own currency.

How long are you going for and how much do you expect to be outside the resort. Most things are priced in euros and they prefer hare currency due to their awful inflation situation

Most places accept cards - we have revolut and have never had any problems using it in Turkey. We usually take some uk cash and change it for lira out there, use the card for meals etc and cash for small purchases and tips.

The Turkish like to be paid in cash sterling rather than their own currency.

That depends on which area of Turkey that you're going to.
The Dalaman area, which is dominated mainly by Brits prefer Turkish and sterling.
The Antalya area, mostly dominated by Germans, russians and Ukrainians prefer Euros.

As you're going AI op, then you won't need much spending money for that outside the hotel, however, if you're planning on spending a couple of evenings having a drink on your balcony, then buy your alcohol duty free at the UK airport prior to departure, as it's cheaper to do that now than to buy it in Turkey, even in arrivals duty free, due to inflation rocketing by as much as 70%.
Are you planning sightseeing or boat trips? Market shopping?
So in essence, depending on what you're wanting to buy, depends on how much spending money you want to take.
