How long do I have to claim on pet insurance?

I've been so stupid, my dog had an X-ray and painkillers in December and I have sent the claim form to the vets but to a slightly incorrect email address.

Now I have a letter (the very first contact I've received) telling me they're referring to a debt collection agency 😢

At the time I was and still am suffering hyperemesis and was in the midst of packing up to move house but I emailed the claim form in good faith.

I don't have £1200 to send them within 5 days which they've asked for and my insurance line isn't open until tomorrow, can't find anything about how long you have to claim online or in my policy docs.

Please help I'm majorly panicking 😭

You sent your claim form to the wrong email address meaning the vet couldn't process the claim to pay the bill?

You should call them now or tomorrow if they are closed and explain the situation. Most insurance companies give you a year to make a claim so you should still be covered from December. If you have not contacted the vet re settling the bill then it could look like you are not intending to pay and forwarding the bill to debt collection would be the correct procedure.
