To think norovirus has given me a slightly weird burst of manic energy

Had noro this week. 24 hours of completely emptying my insides for followed by another 24 of utter weakness.

Better today and have more energy than I have done in five years. Had my most productive day at work since Christmas AND got some housework done AND did kids’ bedtime solo and now I’m lying here wide awake planning my new career as a stand up comedian (this will obviously never happen but I’m waking up in the morning to a LOT of bad jokes in the notes on my phone).

WTF has happened? Can purging do this? What the heck?

I also spent half an hour on Tiltok for the first time and that place is a fucking cesspit.

I’ve learned that Wednesday/Lady Gaga dance now though, so that’s good

Have the noro symptoms prevented you sleeping? Going without sleep for long enough can give you a mild energetic euphoria.

Rainallnight · 18/02/2023 01:28

Good question, but actually no. A bit disturbed the first night and then sleep was fine, including a couple of decent naps.

I’ve got to try to get some sleep now, though. Busy day tomorrow and if I crash from whatever this is, it’s going to be a nightmare on not enough sleep.

Maybe it’s my HRT kicking in?

This post is brilliant, you have a great sense of humour 🙂

Rainallnight · 18/02/2023 01:31

Ah, that’s very kind @Greenshake And useful, given my new career as a stand up apparently begins tomorrow.

Oof, I had noro and was dead for 5 days! Good for you...

Endlesssummer2022 · 18/02/2023 07:01

Maybe it’s due to ‘fasting’? Being a bit hungry sharpens your mind. I’ve been intermittently fasting since Jan and I definitely feel sharper and more energetic.

I suspect you might have 'evacuated' some dodgy gut bacteria or clogged up gunk so basically you are acting like someone who has had colonic irrigation 😃. Make sure you replenish your good gut bacteria with fermented foods and probiotics.

No, I was traumatised from puking up a can of tomato soup. Cold tomato soup shooting out of your nose 3 hours after you last saw it, piping hot in a bowl didn't give me energy, it gave me an aversion to tomato soup.

The body sometimes goes into overdrive. I get it the other way round. the day before I get ill I am invincible - more burpees than anyone else in bootcamp, ripping through work projects at twice the normal speed, feeling euphoric. Next day - dead to the world and no man with man-flu could ever better my sighing and lolling and dressing gown of doom.

These days I get a bit nervous if I have a really energetic day as I'm worried baout what will follow.

Power to you, OP. Hope it keeps going.

Have you gone into keto without realising?
